Join Me for #PerfectBLM Twitter Party
April 2, 2013
I am a #BLMGirl. Blogger Like Me is an online community of women who believe learning more about blogging. We are about Food, Fashion, DIY, Mommyhood, Faith, and of course Beauty. But you know what is really beautiful? I’ve been asked to host this month’s twitter party. I am super excited. This month our sponsor is Perfect Lock, the premium virgin Indian hair extension brand. We love to look good, and as a blogger, people are always snapping a photo or out at an event. It pays to stay on top of trends which means this months chat will be about Beauty.

As I put the finishing touches on my book on Social Media for beauty professionals. I am want to talk about our mutual love of all things beauty. I recently did an interview for my book with Julie Mahloch the CEO of Bloom.com. She told me that the deciding factor for her to start bloom was a 2am Las Vegas encounter with a group of women and her friends engaged in a heated discussion about beauty treatments and products. She said that if beauty had this kind of intrigue to keep this group of professional women engrossed in a deep philosophical conversation in a turned up night club, then it had to be her next big thing for the social commerce site geared toward all things beauty.
During our twitter party. We will be giving away some perfect beauty prizes courtesy of Perfect Locks. There are two sets of their amazing vital hair care shampoo and conditioners for natural and extensions. The grand prize is a $100 gift card to Perfect Locks. Be sure to RSVP for your chance to win! I hope to see you there! Cuz we like to Party!

Are Hair Extensions Ripping Out Your Hair?
February 20, 2013
So many times I am asked if hair extensions help to grow your hair or rip it out. One of my clients asked this question; I have been applying sewn in hair extensions to help me to grow out my hair longer. It never fails that every time I take out my sewn in hair extensions, I lose a lot of hair. It looks like my hair is breaking. What am I doing wrong?
On average a person sheds 100-150 strands of hair a day. It can appear that you are losing a lot of hair when you are taking out your cornrows. While your hair is cornrowed (underneath the hair extensions) the shedding hair isn’t able to escape the the scalp and fall free as it normally would. So when you un-braid the cornrows, all of that hair sheds at once. Rest assured unless you see bald spots or you have cut your natural hair while cutting out the hair extensions, you are probably not “losing your hair”.
Please watch the video above for the best way to remove your hair extensions and save your hair.
